ADVANCED TABLEAU
Analytic Problem Solving in Tableau
DATA STRUCTURES · GEOGRAPHIC ANOMALIES · TABLE CALCULATIONS · CALCULATED FIELDS · PARAMETERS · GROUPS · SMALL MULTIPLES · COMBINATION CHARTS
Let’s strengthen your problem solving skills in Tableau! During this two-day course, we’ll build visualizations that present a wide range of analytic roadblocks in Tableau and then we’ll work through each solution together. Using the New York Times COVID-19 data, we’ll unpack why these unexpected hurdles crop up, how to recognize their patterns, and different tactics for solving the problem at hand. You’ll emerge from this workshop with a deepened understanding of table calculations, calculated fields, and how to make incomplete data usable with supplemental sources we’ll create from scratch. Maps, small multiples, combination charts, joins, unions, order of operations, groups, parameters: this workshop will leave you with a whole new set of tools to tackle the next analytic problem you encounter in Tableau.
DASHBOARD DESIGN
Designing Tableau Dashboards for Public Audiences
BRANDING · USER EXPERIENCE · INSTRUCTIONS · DOCUMENTATION · DASHBOARD OBJECTS · HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL CONTAINERS · PADDING · WEBSITE EMBEDDING
This two-day course kicks off right where the dashboard design fun begins. We’ll dive into a Tableau workbook that already has a complete series of visualizations built with the New York Times COVID-19 data set. Our goal will be to transform these individual worksheets into a cohesive collection of dashboards ready to share with public audiences. We’ll dive into the nitty gritty details of laying out dashboards that are visually striking and delightfully intuitive for our end audiences. This workshop will demystify layout containers, inner and outer padding, the item hierarchy, and proper sizing strategies to create dashboards that are beautiful, inviting, and ready to embed into your website and share with the world. You’ll leave this workshop with an entirely new outlook on dashboard design in Tableau.
